How Is Duplex 2507 Stainless Steel Made?
- The production of Duplex 2507 stainless steel mirrors the advanced techniques of high-alloy steel manufacturing. Utilizing an electric arc furnace, scrap steel is melted and alloyed with precision. This molten steel is then transferred to an AOD (argon oxygen decarburization) converter, a crucible of transformation where decarburization, sulfur refinement, and gas elimination are meticulously conducted.
- During the AOD process, nitrogen is typically incorporated into the steel. The journey continues to the ladle furnace, where the steel's composition is finely tuned by adjusting inclusions.
