AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution treated and aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
In the solution treated and aged condition, rapid quenching of small sections achieves optimum properties. Larger sections or delayed quenching may result in less than optimal properties.
The typical hardness in the annealed condition is Rockwell C 30-34, while in the solution and aged condition, it is approximately Rockwell C 35-39.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar offers machinability akin to austenitic stainless steel. Optimal results are achieved using slow machining speeds, high feeds, and robust tools, combined with generous applications of non-chlorinated cutting fluids to ensure precision and longevity.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod excels in weldability, whether in the annealed state or in solution and partially aged conditions. Post-weld heat treatment facilitates aging. It is crucial to avoid contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should occur in an inert gas environment, safeguarding the molten metal and adjacent zones, possibly with a tail shield. Spot, seam, and flash welding are achievable without the need for a protective atmosphere.
In the handling of Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod, caution is necessary to prevent hydrogen contamination from improper pickling and avoid exposure to oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during processes like forging, heat treating, and brazing. Such contamination can lead to reduced ductility, negatively impacting notch sensitivity and forming capabilities.
We tailor bar production to meet your precise requirements.
Our bars boast excellent surface quality, straightness, perfect roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (according to ISO 286-2, up to h5). Available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Titanium is unsuitable for environments containing strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
The corrosion rates for Grade 2 titanium across various media are illustrated in Table 1. CP titanium offers excellent resistance in diverse environments, including:
CP titanium resists crevice corrosion in salt solutions better than stainless steels. It remains unaffected at temperatures below 80°C (176°F), regardless of pH, even in highly chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 titanium exhibits superb resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and is immune to SCC in seawater.
Titanium demonstrates exceptional resistance to erosion in flowing environments.
Experience unparalleled durability with our titanium rods, which show negligible wear even in seawater velocities up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec). The presence of abrasive particles like sand only slightly affects their exceptional resistance to corrosion.
Titanium showcases remarkable resistance to hydrogen absorption even when exposed to seawater at elevated temperatures. Ordinarily, hydrogen absorption in titanium occurs only when the following three specific conditions are met:
Titanium alloys exhibit exceptional immunity to microbiologically influenced corrosion. Despite not exhibiting toxicity towards marine organisms, biofouling can occur in seawater. This issue can be mitigated through chlorination or by increasing the water velocity in heat exchangers.
Unlike many other materials, titanium maintains its fatigue performance even in seawater. It shows no decrease in either fatigue endurance limits or fatigue *** growth rates when tested in air or seawater.
In the galvanic series, titanium is positioned near the noble end close to stainless steels, typically acting as the cathode when paired with other metals. Thus, it remains unaffected by galvanic corrosion and can even accelerate the corrosion of the other metal. Pairing titanium with more noble metals like graphite further enhances its passivity.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod exemplifies outstanding fatigue properties, with no degradation observed in the presence of seawater. Both fatigue endurance limits and fatigue *** growth rates remain consistent whether tested in air or seawater.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rod is highly weldable, provided essential precautions are observed. Due to titanium's reactivity, an inert gas shield must cover both the OD and ID of the rod. Additionally, the material should be free from grease or oil contamination.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod is typically welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. It's advisable to use low heat input to limit the size of the heat-affected zone. Notably, Titanium Rods generally do not require post-weld heat treatment.
