Duplex Steel S32205 Rods are renowned for their exceptional characteristics and versatility across various sectors. S32205 is a duplex stainless steel that merges the benefits of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, resulting in superior strength, corrosion resistance, and cost efficiency. Composition and Property: Duplex steel S32205 contains approximately 22% chromium, 5-6% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and high levels of nitrogen, ensuring robust corrosion resistance and strength. The dual-phase microstructure of austenite and ferrite surpasses traditional austenitic or ferritic stainless steels in mechanical properties. Corrosion Resistance: A key feature of S32205 rods is their resistance to various forms of corrosion. They exhibit excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments, making them ideal for use in corrosive environments such as chemical processing, marine settings, and the offshore oil and gas industry.

Duplex 2205 Round Bar is an exceptional duplex ferritic-austenitic stainless steel bar, meticulously crafted with 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5-6% nickel. Renowned as the most widely used duplex stainless steel grade, it boasts a yield strength that is double that of standard austenitic grades. This superior strength is complemented by outstanding fatigue resistance and exceptional resilience against stress corrosion cracking, crevice, pitting, erosion, and general corrosion, even in the harshest conditions.
Most Duplex 2205 manufacturers recommend a maximum hot forming temperature between 2010 and 2100°F (1100 to 1150°C). If the workpiece shape is not compact, the edges may cool significantly more than the bulk, risking cracks in cooler regions.
Duplex 2205 demonstrates excellent formability across various fabrications. The high strength of Duplex 2205 requires machinery with sufficient power and allowances for greater spring-back due to the grade's inherent high strength.
Duplex stainless steel bar 2205 offers a uniquely challenging yet rewarding machining experience. While it is slightly tougher to machine compared to the 300 series austenitic stainless steels, requiring higher cutting forces and leading to faster tool wear, here are some expert guidelines to optimize your process: A) Employ a powerful, rigid machine with robust tool and workpiece mounting; B) Minimize tool extension to reduce vibrations; C) Keep tool nose radius minimal to maintain a sharp carbide edge with sufficient strength; D) Strategically design the machining sequence to ensure the depth of cut always bypasses the work-hardened layer from previous operations.
