Corrosion Resistance
The 410 stainless steel plate exhibits impressive resistance to dry air, fresh water, mild bases and acids, various foods, steam, and hot gases.
To achieve peak heat and corrosion resistance, the 410 stainless steel must be hardened. Optimal performance is attained when the surface is smooth.
Heat Resistance
This grade offers excellent resistance to scaling at temperatures up to approximately 650°C. However, it is generally not recommended for use between 400 and 580°C, as mechanical properties can diminish.
Heat Treatment
Full annealing should be conducted at 815-900°C, followed by a slow furnace cool to 600°C, and then air cooling.
For process annealing, heat the material to 650-760°C before air cooling.
Welding
410 stainless steel can be easily welded by all conventional methods. It requires preheating to 150-260°C and post-weld annealing to minimize the risk of cracking.

| BA | Achieved by performing bright annealing after cold rolling and then skin pass rolling to obtain even greater reflectance; provides excellent corrosion resistance; used for household appliances, kitchen equipment, and automobiles. |
