Grade 5 Titanium Alloy Rod (Titanium Aluminum Vanadium Alloy) stands out as the most widely used α-β titanium alloy, representing half of the global titanium alloy consumption. A key attribute of Grade 5 titanium alloy is its full heat treatability and usability at temperatures up to 400°C. With a low density of 4.43 kg/dm, superior corrosion resistance, and high mechanical strength, this alloy exhibits remarkable tensile strength at room temperature and exceptional creep resistance up to 300°C. Moreover, it offers robust *** resistance and fatigue resistance. The age-hardening capability of the 6AL-4V titanium alloy rod makes it highly suitable for diverse applications, including fasteners and components in challenging environments. Its excellent machinability and weldability cater to various industrial needs.
Exquisite Features of DAXUN® Ti Grade 5 Titanium Alloy Bar (6AL-4V):
Daxun excels in producing top-tier titanium bars with superior performance, tailored to customer specifications:
Daxun conducts multiple quality assurance tests, including mechanical tests like area tensile, chemical analysis, material positive identification (PMI), micro and macro examinations, intergranular corrosion (IGC) tests, ultrasonic flaw detection, pitting and resistance tests, hardness tests, expansion tests, and more. These rigorous checks ensure the Grade 2 Titanium Rod and Grade 2 Titanium Round Bar meet the requisite application standards. Throughout the production process, we meticulously measure the product's diameter, thickness, and surface.

AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution treated and aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
In the solution-treated and aged condition, rapid quenching of smaller sections yields optimal properties. Larger sections or delayed quenching may result in less than optimal properties.
Typical hardness ranges from Rockwell C 30-34 in the annealed condition, and Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution-treated and aged condition.
Though challenging, Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar can be machined effectively using methods suitable for austenitic stainless steel. This requires slow machining speeds, high feeds, rigid tools, and a substantial amount of non-chlorinated cutting fluids to ensure precision and quality.
Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod exhibits excellent weldability in both the annealed and solution-partially aged conditions. Aging is typically performed post-weld heat treatment. To preserve quality, precautions must be taken to prevent contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding is best done in an inert gas-filled chamber or with inert gas shielding the molten metal and heated zones, using a tail shield. Spot, seam, and flash welding can be executed without the necessity of a protective atmosphere.
Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod is susceptible to contamination by hydrogen during improper pickling and by oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during processes such as forging, heat treating, and brazing. Such contamination can lead to reduced ductility, negatively impacting notch sensitivity and forming properties.

Usage Guidelines: Avoid using titanium with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
General Corrosion Rates: Grade 2 titanium's performance in various media is detailed in Table 1. CP titanium demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance in numerous environments, including:
Crevice Corrosion Resistance: CP titanium excels in salt solutions, outperforming stainless steels at temperatures under 80°C (176°F) regardless of pH, even in super chlorinated conditions.
Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) Resistance: Grade 2 titanium shows outstanding resistance in hot chloride solutions and remains immune in seawater.
Erosion Resistance: Titanium exhibits excellent resilience against erosion in flowing environments.
Seawater with velocities up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec) exhibits negligible impact on the material. Even in the presence of abrasive particles like sand, corrosion remains minimal.
Titanium exposed to seawater, even at higher temperatures, shows no significant hydrogen absorption. Hydrogen absorption typically occurs only when three specific conditions are met:
Titanium alloys exhibit unique immunity to all forms of microbiologically influenced corrosion. However, biofouling can occur in seawater due to their non-toxicity toward marine organisms. This can be mitigated by chlorination or increasing water velocity through the heat exchanger.
Unlike many other materials, titanium does not exhibit reduced fatigue performance in seawater. Fatigue endurance limits and fatigue *** growth rates remain consistent whether tested in air or seawater.
In the galvanic series, titanium is positioned near the noble end close to stainless steels, generally acting as the cathode when coupled with other metals. Titanium, therefore, remains unaffected by galvanic corrosion but can accelerate corrosion in the coupled metal. Pairing titanium with more noble metals, like graphite, only enhances its passivity.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod stands out as it does not degrade in fatigue properties when exposed to seawater. Both fatigue endurance limits and fatigue *** growth rates stay consistent in air and seawater.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rod is highly weldable with proper precautions. Due to titanium's reactivity, an inert gas shield must cover both the OD and ID of the rod. The material must be devoid of any grease or oil contamination.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod is usually welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. Employing low heat input minimizes the heat-affected zone. Typically, Titanium Rod is not post-weld heat treated.
