A Global Leader in Stainless Steel Pipe Fabrication Services Like most non-stainless steels, martensitic 410 stainless steel pipe can be toughened by a "quench and temper" heat treatment. It contains enough chromium (at least 11.5%) to resist corrosion. Its corrosion resistance is highest when tempered and polished after hardening. The 410 stainless steel pipe is a general-purpose grade of stainless steel, known for its balance of hardness and machinability, making it suitable for applications demanding moderate heat and corrosion resistance along with high strength. While martensitic stainless steels are primarily characterized by their high hardness, this comes with some trade-offs. Poor weldability must be managed during fabrication, and final heat treatment is typically necessary. These steels have lower corrosion resistance compared to austenitic stainless steels and lose ductility at sub-freezing temperatures while losing strength due to over-tempering at higher temperatures, limiting their operational range. The 410 stainless steel pipe, widely used due to its 12% chromium content, can be heat treated to achieve various mechanical properties. It combines high strength and hardness with good corrosion resistance, is ductile and forgeable, and remains magnetic in all conditions. Hence, it is not recommended for environments with severe corrosion.

• Corrosion Resistance
  The 410 stainless steel pipe is resistant to dry air, fresh water, mild bases and acids, food substances, steam, and hot gases.
  It must be hardened to achieve maximum heat and corrosion resistance, delivering the best performance when smooth.
  Heat Resistance
  Exhibits good resistance to scaling up to about 650°C. However, it is generally not recommended for use between 400°C and 580°C as mechanical properties are significantly reduced.
  Heat Treatment
  Fully Anneal: Heat to 815-900°C, then slow furnace cool to 600°C, followed by air cooling.
  Process Anneal: Heat to 650-760°C, then air cool.
  Welding
