Duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) is an advanced super duplex stainless steel featuring a composition of 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel. Crafted for rigorous applications requiring superior strength and corrosion resistance, it is ideal for chemical processing, petrochemical, and seawater equipment. This steel is highly resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking, offers excellent thermal conductivity, and has a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The significant levels of chromium, molybdenum, and nickel ensure exceptional resistance to pitting, crevices, and general corrosion.

General Corrosion
To achieve optimal results, 2507 should be hot worked between 1875°F and 2250°F, followed by a solution anneal at a minimum of 1925°F and rapid quenching using air or water.
Cold working 2507 is compatible with most standard stainless steel processes. Due to its higher yield strength and lower ductility compared to austenitic steels, additional forming forces, larger bending radii, and greater springback margins are required. Techniques such as deep drawing and stretch forming are more challenging. For formations exceeding 10% cold deformation, a solution anneal and quench is recommended for optimal performance.
For superior corrosion resistance, 2507 should undergo solution annealing and quenching post hot or cold forming. Anneal at a minimum of 1925°F, followed by rapid air or water quenching. For optimal results, heat-treated products should be pickled and rinsed.
2507 stainless steel exhibits excellent weldability, compatible with various welding techniques including SMAW, GTAW, PAW, FCW, and SAW. Use 2507/P100 filler metal to achieve the desired duplex weld structure when welding.
