Advanced HEAT TREATMENT Options

  • For achieving high hardness, tensile strength, and fatigue resistance, annealing can be conducted at temperatures of 1,700-1,900°F (927 - 1,038°C).
    DAXUN 6-4™ Grade 5 alloy offers versatile heat treatment methods tailored to your needs.
  • 1. Anneal: 1,275 - 1,400°F (691 - 760°C), for ½ to 2 hours, followed by air or furnace cooling.
  • 2. Stress Relief Anneal: 1,000 - 1,200°F (538 - 649°C), for 1 to 8 hours, followed by air or furnace cooling.
  • 3. Solution Heat Treat: 1,675 - 1,750°F (913 - 954°C), for 1 hour, with a water quench.
  • 4. Aging: 975 - 1,025°F (524 - 552°C), for 4 to 8 hours, followed by air cooling.

In the solution-treated and aged condition, rapid quenching of small sections yields optimal properties. Larger sections and/or delayed quenching may result in less than optimal properties.

Erosion Corrosion

Hydrogen Embrittlement

Titanium does not significantly absorb hydrogen when exposed to seawater, even at elevated temperatures. Typically, hydrogen absorption only happens when these three conditions are met:

  1. The pH is less than 3 or greater than 12.
  2. The temperature exceeds 176°F (80°C).
  3. There is a mechanism for hydrogen generation, such as a galvanic couple or impressed current.
