Grade 2 Titanium Rod stands as the cornerstone among titanium alloy rods. With its optimal strength-to-weight ratio, it is ideal for weight-sensitive applications. As a commercially pure (CP) titanium alloy, it strikes the perfect balance between strength and weight. This alloy features exceptional ductility and high impact strength, making it easily weldable. It boasts remarkable corrosion resistance in oxidizing conditions, alkaline media, brine solutions, weakly reducing environments, and wet ***. Furthermore, its resistance to seawater and saline solutions makes it an excellent choice for various applications. The low density, high strength-to-weight ratio, and superior corrosion resistance make Grade 2 Titanium Rod a versatile and highly sought-after material.
China's premier supplier and distributor of Titanium Gr 2 Bars, including ASTM B348 Titanium Grade 2 Round Bars and Titanium UNS R50400 Bright Bars. AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution treated and aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
In the solution-treated and aged condition, rapid quenching of small sections yields optimum properties. Larger sections or delayed quenching may result in less than ideal properties.
Typical hardness ranges from Rockwell C 30-34 in the annealed condition, and Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution and aged condition.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar can be machined using methodologies akin to those for austenitic stainless steel. This involves employing slow machining speeds, high feeds, rigid tools, and copious amounts of non-chlorinated cutting fluids.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod showcases excellent weldability in both annealed and solution plus partially aged conditions. Aging occurs during post-weld heat treatment. To avoid contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen, fusion welding should be done within an inert gas-filled chamber or using inert gas to protect the molten metal and adjacent heated zones, aided by a tail shield. Spot, seam, and flash welding can be performed without a protective atmosphere.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod is susceptible to hydrogen contamination from improper pickling, as well as contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during forging, heat treating, and brazing. Such contamination can result in decreased ductility, adversely impacting notch sensitivity and forming characteristics.
We manufacture bars tailored to your specific requirements.
Our bars exhibit excellent surface and straightness, perfect roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (in accordance with ISO 286-2 up to h5). They are available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Avoid using titanium with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
General corrosion rates for Grade 2 titanium in various media are shown in Table 1. CP titanium exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments, including:
CP titanium shows excellent resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions, outperforming stainless steels. It will not exhibit crevice corrosion at temperatures below 80 °C (176°F), even under super chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 titanium is highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and is immune to SCC in seawater.
Titanium exhibits outstanding resistance to erosion in flowing environments.
Titanium rods can withstand seawater with velocities up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec) with negligible effects on the material. Even the presence of abrasive particles, such as sand, has only a minor impact on corrosion, ensuring long-lasting durability.
Titanium exhibits significant resistance to hydrogen absorption, even when exposed to seawater at elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption typically occurs only when the following conditions are met:
Titanium alloys are remarkably immune to microbiologically influenced corrosion. However, since they do not exhibit toxicity toward marine organisms, biofouling can occur in seawater. This can be controlled through chlorination or increasing the water velocity through the heat exchanger.
Titanium, unlike many other materials, maintains its fatigue performance in seawater. Both fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates remain consistent whether tested in air or seawater, underscoring titanium's robustness.
In the galvanic series, titanium is positioned towards the noble end, near stainless steels, typically acting as the cathode when paired with other metals. Consequently, titanium is not affected by galvanic corrosion but can accelerate corrosion in the other metal. Pairing titanium with more noble metals, such as graphite, further enhances its passivity.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod does not exhibit a degradation in fatigue properties when exposed to seawater. Fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates remain identical whether tested in air or seawater, highlighting its excellent performance.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rod is highly weldable, provided necessary precautions are observed. Due to titanium's reactivity, an inert gas shield must be placed on both the OD and ID of the rod, and the material should be free from grease or oil contamination.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod is commonly welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. Low heat input is recommended to minimize the heat-affected zone. Post-weld heat treatment is typically not required.
