Duplex 2205 Round Bar is a remarkable duplex ferritic-austenitic stainless steel bar, enriched with 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5-6% nickel. This makes it the most widely utilized duplex stainless steel grade, boasting a yield strength that is double that of conventional austenitic grades. It excels in fatigue strength and exhibits outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice, pitting, erosion, and general corrosion even in the most demanding conditions.
Most producers of Duplex 2205 recommend a maximum hot forming temperature between 2010 and 2100°F (1100 to 1150°C). If the workpiece shape is not compact, the edges may cool significantly faster than the bulk, risking cracks in the cooler regions.
Duplex 2205 demonstrates good formability across various fabrications. However, its high strength can pose challenges. Even if the equipment has enough power, allowances must be made for higher spring-back due to the grade's elevated strength.
