Ti 6Al-4V (Grade 5 Titanium) dominates the titanium alloy tube market, accounting for over 50% of total titanium usage. Typically used in an annealed state, it operates efficiently up to 400°C (750°F). With ELI filler wire or matching welding, it offers higher strength and superior stiffness and thermal properties compared to commercial pure titanium tubes. Although its thermal conductivity is about 60% lower than CP titanium, it can be heat-treated for enhanced strength and performance. Its advantages include excellent formability, low density, and exceptional corrosion resistance.
This grade is an ideal blend of strength, corrosion resistance, weldability, and machinability, making it indispensable in military aircraft, aviation, rocket components, precision-guided parts, armor, ship equipment, and military vacuum equipment. The 6-4ELI variant is also employed in surgical implants. Generally used up to 400°C, it enhances ductility and toughness in cold conditions and is easily heat-treated for diverse applications. As a versatile titanium alloy, Ti 6Al-4V titanium seamless tube excels in temperatures ranging from -210°C to 400°C, offering unmatched commercial viability with superb strength and toughness, along with excellent welding and processing characteristics.

Ti-6Al-4V- Grade 5 Titanium tube
- Titanium Alloy-(UNS R56400)
INTRODUCTION
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 Alloy Tube (UNS R56400) stands as the premier titanium alloy, sought after for its exceptional properties. This duplex alpha+beta titanium alloy is uniquely fortified with aluminium as an alpha stabiliser and vanadium as a beta stabiliser. Exhibiting remarkable strength, it performs efficiently even at cryogenic temperatures around 800°F (427°C). Widely adopted in annealing, solution treatment, and ageing processes, this alloy is indispensable in manufacturing compressor blades, discs, and rings for jet engines, fuselage and space capsule parts, pressure containers, *** casings, helicopter rotor hubs, fasteners, and vital high strength-to-weight ratio forgings.
- The alloy's production begins with vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM). It undergoes one or two vacuum arc remelting steps to achieve its final form.

- The finest properties are achieved in the solution-treated and aged condition, particularly in small cross sections that are promptly quenched.
Larger section sizes or a delay in quenching may result in properties that are less than the optimal values.
HARDNESS
In the annealed condition, the typical hardness is Rockwell C 30-34, while in the solution and aged condition, it is approximately Rockwell C 35-39.
FORGEABILITY/ FORMABILITY
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy tubes are forged at 1,750°F (954°C), with an end forging temperature of 1,450°F (788°C). For optimal outcomes, a reduction of at least 35% is recommended.
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is notoriously challenging to form at room temperature, even post-annealing. However, rigorous forming operations such as bending or stretching can be effortlessly conducted on annealed material at elevated temperatures up to 1,200°F (649°C) without compromising its superior mechanical properties. Creep forming can be leveraged for hot sizing or shaping at temperatures between 1,000 and 1,200°F (538 to 649°C) with remarkable precision.
MACHINABILITY
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy exhibits exceptional machinability, akin to austenitic stainless steels. It demands slow machining speeds, heavy feeds, and steadfast
tooling, complemented by generous applications of non-chlorinated cutting fluid to ensure optimal performance.
WELDABILITY
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 Alloy Titanium Tube excels in weldability, whether in the annealed state or solution and partially aged form. Enhanced strength is attained through post-weld heat treatment.
- Special precautions are essential to prevent contamination by oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should be performed within an inert gas-filled chamber or with an inert gas tail shield protecting the molten metal and adjacent hot zone. Techniques such as spot welding, seam welding, and flash welding can be executed without a protective environment, maintaining the integrity of the weld.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
- To maintain the structural integrity of DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy, it is critical to avoid contamination by hydrogen during incorrect pickling and the absorption of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during processes like forging, heat treatment, and brazing. Such contamination can significantly impair ductility, notch sensitivity, and forming properties.
Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Pipe- Grade 5 Titanium Tube
Titanium Alloy - (UNS R56400)
Introduction
DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 (UNS R56400) stands as the premier titanium alloy, embodying a duplex alpha+beta composition with aluminum as the alpha stabilizer and vanadium as the beta stabilizer. This robust alloy performs optimally at low temperatures around 800°F (427°C). ATI Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is ideal for annealing, solution treating, and aging. It finds extensive applications in compressor blades, disks, and rings for jet engines; fuselage and space capsule components; pressure vessels; *** cases; helicopter rotor hubs; fasteners; and high-strength-to-weight ratio critical forgings.
The alloy's initial melting is achieved through vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM), followed by one or two additional vacuum arc remelting steps to ensure purity and consistency.

Optimum Properties
Rapid quenching of small cross sections in the solution-treated and aged condition yields optimal properties. Larger cross-sections or delayed quenching may not attain the desired properties.
Hardness
In the annealed condition, the typical hardness is Rockwell C 30-34. In the solution-treated and aged condition, it reaches approximately Rockwell C 35-39.
Forgeability/Formability
The DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 Titanium Tube is forged at 1,750°F (954°C) with a final forging temperature of 1,450°F (788°C). A reduction of at least 35% is recommended for optimal results.
DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 Titanium Tube is challenging to form at room temperature, even when annealed. Severe forming operations such as bending or stretching can be carried out on annealed material at up to 1,200°F (649°C) without altering its mechanical properties. Creep forming can be used for hot sizing or forming at temperatures ranging from 1,000 to 1,200°F (538 to 649°C).
Machinability
The DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 Titanium Tube can be machined using techniques suitable for austenitic stainless steels, utilizing slow speeds, high feeds, robust tool rigidity, and ample amounts of non-chlorinated cutting fluids.
Weldability
The DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 Titanium Tube is easily weldable in both annealed and solution-treated and partially aged conditions. Aging can be performed during post-weld heat treatment.
To prevent contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen, fusion welding should be carried out in an inert gas-filled chamber or with an inert gas tail shield over the molten and hot zones. Spot welding, seam welding, and flash welding can all be done without a protective atmosphere.
Special Considerations
The DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 Titanium Tube may absorb hydrogen from improper pickling and oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during forging, heat treating, and brazing, which can reduce ductility and impair notch sensitivity and formability.
