ELEVATED TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code sets an upper temperature limit of 600°F (315°C). Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures can result in embrittlement.
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES Alloy 2205 boasts more than twice the strength of conventional austenitic stainless steels in the annealed condition. It can also be supplied in the cold-worked condition with yield strength surpassing 160 ksi, maintaining good toughness at temperatures down to -50°F (-10°C).
WORKABILITY Alloy 2205 is highly adaptable to cold forming. Due to its high work-hardening rate, intermediate anneals may be necessary. Annealing is also recommended post hot forming or cold forming to achieve optimal stress corrosion resistance.
