INTRODUCTION

  • The DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 Alloy Tube (UNS R56400) stands as the epitome of titanium alloys. This duplex alpha+beta alloy employs aluminum for alpha stabilization and vanadium for beta stabilization. Renowned for its incredible strength, it thrives at cryogenic temperatures up to 800°F (427°C). Its versatility spans across annealing, solution treatment, and aging. Essential in aerospace and industrial sectors, it's used in compressor blades, jet engine components, fuselage and space capsule parts, *** cases, helicopter rotor hubs, fasteners, and high-strength forgings.
  • The alloy's initial melting process utilizes advanced techniques such as vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM). This is followed by one or two stages of vacuum arc remelting.

  • 1. Anneal: 1,275 - 1,400°F (691 - 760°C), for ½ to 2 hours, followed by air or furnace cooling.
  • 2. Stress Relief Anneal: 1,000 - 1,200°F (538 - 649°C), held for 1 to 8 hours, then air or furnace cooled.
  • 3. Solution Heat Treatment: 1,675 - 1,750°F (913 - 954°C), maintained for 1 hour, and then water quenched.
  • 4. Aging Treatment: 975 - 1,025°F (524 - 552°C), for 4 to 8 hours, followed by air cooling.
  • To achieve top-tier properties, small cross-sections are solution treated and aged rapidly.
    Note: Larger section sizes or quench delays can result in sub-optimal properties.
