Grade 2 Titanium Rod stands as the workhorse among titanium alloy rods, celebrated for its optimal strength-to-density ratio, making it ideal for weight-sensitive applications. As a CP (commercially pure) titanium alloy, it offers an exemplary balance between strength and weight. With superior impact strength and excellent weldability, it is highly corrosion-resistant in oxidizing conditions, alkaline media, brine solutions, weakly reducing environments, and wet ***. Furthermore, its resistance to seawater and saline solutions makes it indispensable across various applications.

AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution treated and aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
In a solution-treated and aged condition, rapid quenching of smaller sections yields optimal properties. Larger section sizes or delayed quenching may result in suboptimal properties.
The typical hardness in the annealed state is Rockwell C 30-34, and approximately Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution-treated and aged condition.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar exhibits exceptional machinability using austenitic stainless steel machining techniques. Optimal results are achieved with slow machining speeds, high feeds, rigid tools, and ample use of non-chlorinated cutting fluids.
Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod offers excellent weldability, either in the annealed or solution and partially aged condition. Post-weld heat treatment facilitates aging. It's crucial to prevent contamination with oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding in an inert gas-filled chamber or with inert gas protects the molten metal and adjacent heated zones. Spot, seam, and flash welding can also be performed without a protective atmosphere.
Special care must be taken with Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod to prevent hydrogen contamination from improper pickling, and oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon contamination during forging, heat treatment, and brazing. Such contamination can reduce ductility, negatively affecting notch sensitivity and forming characteristics.
We customize bars to meet your precise requirements.
Our bars feature excellent surface finish, straightness, perfect roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (according to ISO 286-2 up to h5). Available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Titanium should not be used with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
The general corrosion rates for Grade 2 titanium in various media are outlined in Table 1. CP titanium demonstrates robust corrosion resistance across a broad spectrum of environments, including:
CP titanium offers excellent resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions compared to stainless steels. CP titanium remains free from crevice corrosion at temperatures below 80°C (176°F), regardless of pH, even under highly chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 titanium exhibits outstanding resistance to stress corrosion (SCC) cracking in hot chloride solutions and is completely immune to sec in seawater.
Titanium shows exceptional resistance to erosion in flowing environments.
Experience the Unmatched Resilience of Our Materials: Our titanium rods show negligible effects even in seawater with velocities of up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec). The presence of abrasive particles, like sand, has minimal impact on corrosion.
Titanium's Resilience against Hydrogen: No significant hydrogen absorption occurs in titanium exposed to seawater, even at elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption typically happens only if all the following three conditions are met:
Unmatched Immunity to Bio-Corrosion: Titanium alloys are uniquely immune to all forms of microbiologically influenced corrosion. While these alloys are not toxic to marine organisms, biofouling may occur in seawater. This can be managed by chlorination or increasing water velocity through the heat exchanger.
Exceptional Fatigue Performance: Unlike other materials, titanium maintains its fatigue performance in seawater. Fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates are consistent whether tested in air or seawater.
Noble Performance in Galvanic Series: Positioned near stainless steels, titanium usually acts as the cathode in galvanic couples. Titanium remains unaffected by galvanic corrosion but might accelerate corrosion in other metals. When coupled with more noble metals like graphite, titanium's passivity is further enhanced.
Unyielding Fatigue Properties: Grade 2 Titanium Rod does not suffer from fatigue degradation in seawater. Fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates are equivalent whether in air or seawater.
Welding Grade 2 Titanium: CP2 Grade Titanium Rod is highly weldable with proper precautions. Due to titanium's reactivity, inert gas shielding is essential on both the OD and ID of the rod. The material must be free from grease or oil contamination.
Optimal Welding Techniques: Grade 2 Titanium Rod is commonly welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. Low heat input minimizes the heat-affected zone. Post-weld heat treatment is typically unnecessary.
