Corrosion Resistance
The 410 stainless steel exhibits remarkable resistance to dry air, fresh water, mild bases and acids, foodstuffs, steam, and hot gases.
For optimal heat and corrosion resistance, the 410 stainless steel must be hardened and performs best when smooth.
Heat Resistance
410 stainless steel offers excellent resistance to scaling up to about 650°C. However, usage between 400°C and 580°C is generally not recommended due to reduced mechanical properties.
Heat Treatment
To fully anneal, heat the material to 815-900°C, then allow it to cool slowly inside the furnace to 600°C, and finally air cool it.
For process annealing, heat to 650-760°C and then air cool.
Welding
410 stainless steel can be easily welded using all conventional methods. It requires preheating to 150-260°C and post-weld annealing to minimize the risk of cracking.
Surface Description of Stainless Steel Plates

| #240 | 240 grit finish; used when a finer finish than No. 4 is required; typically for restaurants and kitchen equipment and tools. |
| #320 | 320 grit finish polished product. |
| HL | This finish is performed by continuous linear polishing using an abrasive of appropriate grain size; mainly used for architectural applications. |
| BA | Achieved by performing bright annealing after cold rolling and then skin pass rolling to obtain even greater reflectance; provides excellent corrosion resistance; used for household appliances, kitchen equipment, and automobiles. |

The finished side of each stainless steel sheet is protected by a peelable film, which safeguards the surface from wear and marks during fabrication or installation. The back side remains unfinished.
