  • High Strength Titanium Alloy
  • Heat Treatable
  • Good Ductility
  • Good Machinability
  • Good Weldability

We stock and sell a variety of Grade 5 Titanium Alloy Tubes, including Seamless Tubes, Forged Seamless Tubes, and Welded Tubes.

Daxun Alloy, a premier titanium alloy tube manufacturer and supplier in China, is known globally for providing high-quality Grade 5 titanium pipes, acclaimed in numerous projects.

Ti 6Al-4V (Grade 5 Titanium) is the most extensively used titanium alloy tube, representing over 50% of the total titanium usage. Typically supplied in an annealed state, it operates efficiently up to 400°C (750°F) and is welded with matching or ELI filler wire. Ti 6Al/4V exhibits significantly higher strength than commercially pure titanium, better stiffness, and superior thermal properties (except for thermal conductivity, which is about 60% lower than CP titanium). Heat treatment enhances its strength and performance, making it ideal for applications requiring formability, low density, and excellent corrosion resistance.

This grade epitomizes the perfect blend of strength, corrosion resistance, weldability, and machinability, making it ideal for military aircraft, aviation, rocket parts, precision-guided components, armor parts, ship equipment, and military vacuum equipment. The 6-4ELI variant is also popular in surgical implants. Applied up to 400°C, it improves ductility and toughness in cold working conditions and offers excellent specific strength. Provided in an annealed state, it can be heat-treated for various applications. Overall, Ti 6Al-4V titanium seamless tube stands out with its wide range of ideal properties at temperatures from -210°C to 400°C, combining high strength and toughness with superb welding and processing characteristics.

  • Titanium Alloy-(UNS R56400)

INTRODUCTION

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 Alloy Tube (UNS R56400) stands as the premier choice among titanium alloys. Featuring a duplex alpha+beta structure, this alloy utilizes aluminium as an alpha stabiliser and vanadium as a beta stabiliser. Renowned for its exceptional high-strength properties, it is suitable for use at cryogenic temperatures up to 800°F (427°C). This versatile alloy is vital in various applications, including annealing, solution treatment, and ageing. It is indispensable in manufacturing compressor blades, discs, and rings for jet engines; fuselage and space capsule components; pressure containers; *** cases; helicopter rotor hubs; fasteners; and crucial high strength-to-weight ratio forgings.
  • The alloy production initiates with vacuum arc remelting (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM). Subsequent remelting steps are conducted one or two times using vacuum arc techniques.

SPECIFICATIONS

• ASTE B338 - Standard for heat-treatable titanium tubes
• AMS 4928 - Forgings and forging stock (annealed)
• AMS 4965 - Forgings (solution treated and aged)

  • In the solution treated and aged condition, the alloy exhibits outstanding properties, especially in small cross sections that are rapidly quenched.
However, larger section sizes or delays in quenching may yield properties lower than optimal values.

HARDNESS

Typical hardness in the annealed state is Rockwell C 30-34, while in the solution and aged condition, it is approximately Rockwell C 35-39.

FORGEABILITY/ FORMABILITY

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy tubes are optimally forged at 1,750°F (954°C), with an end forging temperature of 1,450°F (788°C). For superior results, a reduction of at least 35% is recommended.
  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy, known for its robustness, is challenging to form at room temperature, even when annealed. For demanding forming operations like bending or stretching, annealed material can withstand temperatures up to 1,200°F (649°C) without compromising its mechanical integrity. Hot sizing or forming through creep forming is feasible within a temperature range of 1,000 to 1,200°F (538 to 649°C).

MACHINABILITY

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy can be machined with techniques used for austenitic stainless steels, utilizing slow speeds and heavy feeds.
Employ rigid tooling and ample amounts of non-chlorinated cutting fluid for optimal results.

WELDABILITY

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 Alloy Titanium Tube offers excellent weldability in both annealed and solution-treated forms, retaining its properties through subsequent aging.
  • Post-weld heat treatment is essential, and care must be taken to prevent contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should be done in an inert gas-filled chamber or with an inert gas tail shield. Spot welding, seam welding, and flash welding can be performed without a protective environment.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is susceptible to hydrogen contamination from improper pickling and the absorption of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during processes like forging, heat treatment, and brazing. Such contamination can reduce ductility, affecting notch sensitivity and forming capabilities.

Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Pipe - Grade 5 Titanium Tube

Titanium Alloy - (UNS R56400)
Introduction
DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 (UNS R56400) is the most widely used titanium alloy, celebrated for its high strength and lightweight properties. Suitable for low temperatures around 800°F (427°C), it's ideal for applications like compressor blades, jet engine components, fuselage parts, pressure vessels, *** cases, helicopter rotor hubs, fasteners, and critical forgings.
Initially melted using vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM), the alloy goes through one or two vacuum arc remelting steps to ensure purity and quality.
Specifications
• ASTE B338 - Standard Heat Treatable Titanium Tube
• AMS 4928 - Forgings and Forging Stock (Annealed)
• AMS 4965 - Forgings (Solution Treated and Aged)
• AMS 4967 - Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)

Physical Properties

Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube Melting Range: 2,800-3,000°F (1,538 - 1,649°C)
Density: 0.160 lb/in3; 4.47 g/cm3
Beta Transus Temperature: 1830°F (± 25°); 999°C (± 14°)

Heat Treatment
