Ti 6Al-4V (Grade 5 Titanium) is the most widely used of all titanium alloy tubes, accounting for more than 50% of the total titanium usage. It is usually used in the annealed state and has an operating temperature of up to 400°C (750°F). Ti 6Al/4V is welded with matching or ELI filler wire. Ti 6Al/4V has significantly higher strength than commercial pure titanium tubes, while having better stiffness and thermal properties (excluding thermal conductivity), and the thermal conductivity of Grade 5 titanium tube is about 60% lower than CP titanium. Among its many advantages, it can be heat treated. Thus, more ideal strength and performance are obtained. Our hot-finished titanium tubes are meticulously crafted through hot-rolling or hot-extrusion processes. These tubes are then straightened, precision-machined both inside and out, and finished with a polished surface for superior quality. Available in both heat-treated and non-heat-treated forms, our titanium tubes are subjected to rigorous 100% ultrasonic flaw detection to ensure impeccable integrity.

Titanium Welded Pipes
DaXun excels in manufacturing and supplying titanium welded pipes with diameters ranging from 12.7 mm to 38.1 mm (0.47 in to 1.5 in), wall thickness from 0.4 mm to 1.65 mm (0.016 in to 0.065 in), and lengths up to 25000 mm. INTRODUCTION

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 Alloy Tube (UNS R56400) stands as the titan among titanium alloys. Being a duplex alpha+beta alloy, it harnesses the strength of aluminum as an alpha stabilizer and the robustness of vanadium as a beta stabilizer. This high-strength alloy remains reliable even at cryogenic temperatures up to 800°F (427°C). Widely sought in industries, ATI Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is integral to annealing, solution treatment, and aging processes. It's the go-to material for compressor blades, discs, and rings in jet engines, as well as fuselage components, pressure containers, *** cases, helicopter rotor hubs, fasteners, and critical forgings, all of which benefit from its remarkable strength-to-weight ratio.
  • This extraordinary alloy begins with vacuum arc remelting (VAR), electron beam (EB) or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM), followed by one or two vacuum arc remelting steps for superior purity and consistency.

HEAT TREATMENT

  • Annealing at 1,700-1,900°F (927 - 1,038°C) is applied to achieve high hardness, tensile, and fatigue strength.
  • DAXUN 6-4™, Grade 5 Alloy offers flexible heat treatment options to meet diverse needs.
  • 1. Anneal: 1,275 - 1,400°F (691 - 760°C) for ½ to 2 hours, then air or furnace cool.
  • 2. Stress Relief Anneal: 1,000 - 1,200°F (538 - 649°C) for 1 to 8 hours, followed by air or furnace cooling.
  • 3. Solution Heat Treatment: 1,675 - 1,750°F (913 - 954°C) for 1 hour, then water quench.
  • 4. Aging Treatment: 975 - 1,025°F (524 - 552°C) for 4 to 8 hours, then air cool.
  • In the solution treated and aged condition, optimal properties are achieved with rapid quenching of small cross-sections.
    However, larger section sizes or delays in quenching may result in properties below optimum levels.

HARDNESS

Typical hardness ranges from Rockwell C 30-34 in the annealed condition to Rockwell C 35-39 when solution treated and aged.

FORGEABILITY/ FORMABILITY

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy tubes are forged at 1,750°F (954°C) with an end forging temperature of 1,450°F (788°C). To ensure top-tier results, a reduction of at least 35% is recommended.
  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy presents formidable challenges when formed at room temperature, even in an annealed state. Consequently, intense forming processes such as bending or stretching can be effectively executed on annealed material at elevated temperatures up to 1,200°F (649°C) without compromising its mechanical integrity. For hot sizing or forming, creep forming is applicable within the temperature range of 1,000-1,200°F (538-649°C).

MACHINABILITY

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy can be machined utilizing techniques akin to those for austenitic stainless steels, characterized by slow speeds, substantial feeds, and robust
    tooling, complemented by generous use of non-chlorinated cutting fluids.
