Titanium Grade 9, often fondly called 'Half 6-4,' is a remarkable titanium alloy composed of 3% aluminum and 2.5% vanadium. This dynamic blend grants it a mechanical strength that surpasses commercially pure titanium by 20 to 50%.commercially pure (CP)titanium grades. Despite its enhanced strength, Titanium Grade 9 is also more formable and weldable than the renowned Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5), making it an exceptional choice for intricate applications.
Titanium Grade 18 (UNS R56322) mirrors the sterling attributes of Grade 9, with the added advantage of 0.04 - 0.08% palladium, which significantly elevates its resistance to corrosion. Both Grades 9 and 18 flaunt a density of 4.48 g/cc - an impressive feat, weighing less than 60% of steel.
