General Corrosion
For optimal results, 2507 should be hot worked between 1875°F and 2250°F, followed by a solution anneal at a minimum of 1925°F, and then rapidly quenched in air or water.
Cold working 2507 aligns with most standard stainless steel forming processes. However, due to its higher yield strength and lower ductility compared to austenitic steels, fabrication may require increased forming forces, larger bending radii, and additional allowances for springback. Procedures like deep drawing and stretch forming are more challenging with 2507. For forming exceeding 10% cold deformation, a solution anneal and quench is recommended.
Post hot or cold forming, 2507 should undergo solution annealing at a minimum of 1925°F followed by rapid air or water quenching to achieve optimal corrosion resistance. Post heat treatment, pickling and rinsing are essential for best results.
2507 boasts excellent weldability, compatible with various welding techniques including SMAW, GTAW, PAW, FCW, and SAW. Use 2507/P100 filler metal for optimal duplex weld structure.
