Daxun Alloy's Pure Titanium Grade 1 Tubes Offering:
Our selection features seamless and welded titanium tubes, celebrated for their exceptional ductility and cold formability, making them perfect for deep drawing applications. Grade 1 titanium tubes are renowned for their superb general and seawater corrosion resistance and impressive resistance to oxidizing, neutral, and slightly reducing media, including chloride solutions.
Titanium's unique attributes-low density (approximately half that of nickel-based alloys), high strength, light weight, and superior corrosion resistance-render it an ideal choice for demanding chemical environments. Compliance standards include ASTM B338 | ASTM B265 | ASME SB265 | ASTM F67 | ISO 5832-2 | 3.7025 | UNS R50250.
Grade 2 Titanium Tube (UNS R50400 / Werkstoff WS 3.7034)
This popular industrial-grade titanium tube strikes a perfect balance between moderate strength and reasonable ductility. Known for its outstanding corrosion resistance in both highly oxidizing and slightly reducing conditions (chlorides included), it excels in chemical and offshore industries, aircraft manufacturing, heat exchangers, hypochlorite and fire water systems, ballast water systems, CPI equipment, and industrial and aerospace components.
Fabrication
Titanium Grade 2 is highly amenable to cold forming using standard techniques. It machines well, but maintaining sharp tools and ample coolant is crucial. Similar to machining austenitic stainless steels, it requires deep, continuous cuts at slow feeds and speeds.
Stock Availability
Daxun Alloys offers an extensive inventory of CP 2 Grade Titanium Seamless and Welded Pipes in various sizes to meet diverse needs.
Weight Reduction
With a low density and high strength-to-weight ratio, CP 2 grade titanium tubes are ideal for applications demanding weight reduction without compromising strength. They offer excellent cold formability and ductility and can be welded using conventional TIG and MIG methods, provided inert gas shielding is used to prevent weld zone embrittlement.
Crystal Structure
At room temperature, ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium tube boasts an alpha (hexagonal close-packed) crystal structure, akin to commercially pure titanium grades 1 and 3. Around 885°C (1625°F), it transitions to a beta (body-centered cubic) structure. This transformation temperature can shift based on impurities or alloying elements, which also bifurcate the equilibrium transformation temperature into two zones: alpha below and beta above. Between these temperatures, both alpha and beta forms exist. Typical transformation temperatures for grade 2 titanium are 890°C (1635°F) for alpha and 913°C (1675°F) for beta.
Grade 2 Titanium Seamless Pipe Manufacturing Process
Daxun's ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium seamless tubes are crafted from hollow blanks via hot extrusion or oblique rolling and piercing, followed by multiple cold rolling stages. Throughout the manufacturing process, these seamless tubes maintain continuous perimeters. The comprehensive manufacturing involves sponge titanium vacuum arc melting, ingot blanking, cleaning, cutting and feeding, hot extrusion, or oblique rolling and piercing, degreasing, drying, cutting, online annealing and straightening, pickling, multiple cold rolling, degreasing, drying, vacuum annealing, straightening, cutting, pickling, final inspection, marking (DAXUN), and packaging.
Grade 2 Titanium Welded Pipe Manufacturing Process
Daxun's ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium welded pipe is meticulously crafted from annealed flat-rolled steel plate or steel strip utilizing an advanced automatic arc welding (TIG) process. Our comprehensive production procedure includes: titanium plate uncoiling, precise shearing, seamless butt welding, thorough cleaning, precision pipe forming, flawless TIG welding, rigorous eddy current testing, meticulous pre-sizing, optimal annealing, precision reducing and sizing, impeccable straightening, additional eddy current testing, precise caliper marking, accurate cutting, comprehensive ultrasonic testing, stringent hydrostatic testing, final thorough inspection, and secure packaging. Optimum Properties
Achieving optimal properties requires rapid quenching of small cross-sections in the solution treated and aged condition. Larger cross-sections or delayed quenching may result in properties that are less than optimal.
Hardness
In the annealed state, typical hardness ranges from Rockwell C 30-34, whereas in the solution and aged condition, it ranges approximately from Rockwell C 35-39.
Forgeability/Formability
Experience the unparalleled strength and performance of the DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5. This exceptional titanium tube is expertly forged at a precise temperature of 1,750°F (954°C) with a final forging touch at 1,450°F (788°C). To achieve optimal results, a reduction of at least 35% is highly recommended, ensuring superior resilience and durability.
The DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 is specifically engineered to overcome the challenges of forming at room temperature, even when annealed. For demanding forming operations such as bending or stretching, this advanced titanium tube can be efficiently shaped at temperatures up to 1,200°F (649°C) without compromising its mechanical integrity. Creep forming is an ideal method for hot sizing or forming within a temperature range of 1,000 to 1,200°F (538 to 649°C), maintaining its exceptional properties.
Machinability
The DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 demonstrates excellent machinability. Utilizing machining techniques common to austenitic stainless steels, it requires slow speeds, high feeds, and robust tool rigidity. The abundant use of non-chlorinated cutting fluids is essential to achieve precise and efficient machining performance.
Weldability
The versatility of the DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 shines through its remarkable weldability. Whether in the annealed state or the solution and partially aged conditions, this titanium tube is ready for seamless welding. Post-weld aging enhances its properties further.
To ensure exceptional weld quality, it's crucial to avoid contamination with oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should be performed within an inert gas-filled chamber or with the use of an inert gas tail shield to protect the molten metal and adjacent hot zones. Methods such as spot welding, seam welding, and flash welding can be conducted without a protective atmosphere, maintaining the tube's integrity.
Special Considerations
While working with the DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5, it's vital to be aware of potential contamination risks. Improper pickling or the absorption of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during forging, heat treatment, and brazing can introduce hydrogen contamination. Such contamination may negatively impact ductility, notch sensitivity, and formability. Taking appropriate precautions will ensure the tube's exceptional performance remains uncompromised.
